Mission
Santa Barbara
Mission Santa Barbara was the tenth of the California missions to
be founded by the Spanish Franciscans. It was established on the
Feast of St. Barbara, Dec 4, 1786. Padre Junipero Serra, who founded
the first nine missions, had died 2 years earlier. Serra had planned
to build this mission, raising the cross at the presidio of Santa
Barbara in 1782.

Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park
The last in a chain of four military fortresses built by the Spanish
along the coast of Alta California in 1782. Today, only two sections
of the original Presidio quadrangle remain, and both are within
the State Park.

The
Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
Dedicated to research, education and conservation, and display of
California native plants. The aim of the founders was to create
a garden that would "...unite the aesthetic, educational and
scientific." There are classes, tours, outings, workshops,
and lectures in areas such as Botanical Arts & Culture, Botany
& Natural History, Field Courses & Garden Tours, and Gardening
& Horticulture.
Stearn
Wharf
California's oldest working wharf. Enjoy the fresh ocean breeze
while watching local fishing boats off-load their morning catches.
Touch marine life in a special aquarium. Step aboard the Harbour
Queen for a narrated coastal cruise and take a breathtaking parasail
high above the waterfront. Wine and foods from fast-food to fanciful.
A wealth of shopping amidst panoramic views of the mountains and
the coastline.

Santa
Barbara Certified Farmers Market Association
Open rain or shine, all year round Tuesday through Sunday, excluding
Mondays, at various locations around Santa Barbara. For current
schedule please visit their web site. Members such as Wellington
Farms, Fairview Gardens, Yankee Farm, Santa Barbara Pistachios,
Laronna Jojoba, Windrose Farm, Coleman Family Farm and more. Members
that sell grow or raise the products sold. There is a small "Non-certified"
area at the markets, that allow local seafood and a few other non-agricultural
products. Their web site also has a great recipe section for cooking
things you buy at the market.
The
Santa Barbara Inn
